We'll get there later, for now let's take a look at how we came to create our first program in Visual Studio 2013.
First, here's a quick overview of our project structure. The source (CSharp) and project (VS2013) directory contains all the projects that we need to start the coding of our first application. The folder named build will contain all the files needed for code generation.
In this simple project we're creating, for the first time, a simple application. You can find the full source code as well all the project files in "Projects" pane VS 2013.
Here's our project structure:
If we open our VS2013 "Projects" pane, we see that for this small project, each project is composed of files. In addition, all those files contain "Manifest Files" — a "Project Definition" used for identifying the project when we compile app. Our "Manifest Files" contain some more useful settings such as
online pharmacy uk generic the version (Visual Studio 13 only, Visual 12 won't contain this), type of project — Visual Basic, C# or C++ — and more.
Now, let's begin creating the code for our first C# (and no doubt soon our C++ projects as well) app. If your project has the.sln file extension and.csproj project type, you have all the basic building blocks — code or "build products". Let's start with Visual Studio 2013.
Let's build our first project:
As you can see, our C# project is a normal project. This means it has files that contain C# code, in addition to the "Manifest Files" and "project definition". If you open and expand the header(s) file CSharp.cs, you'll see that every file in our project contains some text which explains basic data types and provides comments as well.
So far we've made an empty C# project. You should have noticed that we added two files, one is "MainPage.xaml" and the other "MainPage.xaml.cs" (this is a default file for our example). So far all of our new
ponaris oil where to buy files are not part of our project, but are called "build products" or "files", such as "MainPage.xaml.cs" for example. That means they are located in the "build" folder of our project, but do not contain any code of their own. In contrast, if we open the previous project, would find that our folder contains the.csproj template. This is where our code is, located in the folder "app" and "MainPage.xaml.cs" for example.
As you can see, the.csproj file is a standard tool used to create a new project. In this case Visual Studio 13 creates a new C# project and in Visual Studio 2013. It means takes all our code files and places them in the correct locations. There are additional options which make creating a project even easier. For example (we'll cover those in a moment), we'll also notice where some of our project files are located. If they're "app" directories, Visual Studio will automatically open an editor window to work with the files (the editor window, not the compiler or version in Visual Studio — this specific case a version 3.1.6, but this does not matter for example).
Our next step is to make sure we can open our code. This is the file "csproj.proj"; Visual Studio's code template of our project:
The main text in this file explains the basic project structure to us. Now, let's open it in Windows Explorer and look inside. There we see all of our folder's content, files and folders, as well that header file, along with one more "project.json".
Note: This is an updated tutorial that will be published in "The Complete Visual Studio Tutorial: Windows" series. See "The Complete Visual Studio Tutorial: Windows".
Inside "project.json" we can see a list of all our project files. You will often see "cspro"
